Seattle makes Detroit pay for fumble, ties game 14-14

Drive starts: DET 25 (15:00 1st)

The drive starts off with disaster, as Montgomery fumbles on the first play of the half and the Seahawks recover.

Drive starts: DET 23 (14:54 3rd)

Just a couple plays after the fumble recovery, Walker makes Detroit pay for the fumble with a 3-yard touchdown run, effectively tying up the game.

Lions head into locker room with 14-7 lead

Drive starts: SEA 25 (4:51 2nd)

Seattle notches just one first down on the drive. Smith scrambles on third-and-6 but picks up just three yards, forcing a punt.

Drive starts: DET 6 (1:43 2nd)

The Lions can't do much backed up against their own goal line. A 5-yard rush is follow up by a pair of incompletions and Detroit punts it back to Seattle in the waning minutes of the second half.

Drive starts: (0:44 2nd)

It seems as though the Seahawks may cut into the Lions' seven-point lead. Smith runs the two-minute drill with efficiency, driving the offense into Detroit territory and giving his team a shot at another field goal attempt. However, the Seahawks miss their second field goal of the game.

Drive starts: DET 46 (0:02 2nd)

Detroit has just two seconds left in the half, so Goff heaves a prayer down the field to St. Brown. He connects for a 40-yard completion, but the receiver and the half comes to an end.

Lions take 14-7 lead with flea flicker

Drive starts: SEA 23 (3:43 1st)

Seattle's offense gains one first down on its second drive of the game. Detroit's secondary locks up for a pair of incompletions on second and third down to force a punt.

Drive starts: DET 12 (0:50 1st)

Detroit's offense starts just as strong after an impressive showing on the first drive. The ground game looks strong, highlighted by a 16-yard run from Montgomery. Goff is characteristically efficient, tossing to a variety of targets in the short and medium range.

However, the drive stalls in Seattle territory. Montgomery is hit in the backfield on third-and-1, losing three yards. The Lions stay on the field and attempt the conversion. LaPorta can't quite bring it in on fourth-and-4 and the offense turns over on downs.

Drive starts: SEA 31 (9:36 2nd)

Seattle's drive starts decently enough. Smith notches back-to-back completions, for 11-yards and 31-yards. Again, it's Detroit's defense that halts the drive. Smith throws three straight completions and the Seahawks settle for a 45-yard field goal attempt, which misses wide left.

Drive starts: DET 35 (7:37 2nd)

An 8-yard completion to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and a few short yardage runs set up the Detroit offense near midfield. A pass interference penalty on the Seahawks brings the Lions deeper into enemy territory.

The offense decides to get a little creative. Head coach Dan Campbell dials up a flea flicker and Goff heaves a deep ball to a streaking, wide-open wide Kalif Raymond for a 36-yard touchdown.

Detroit's offense immediately responds

Drive starts: DET 25 (7:04 1st)

Detroit's offense looks intent on responding to Seattle's opening drive. There's a solid blend of rushing and passing, with running back David Montgomery notching some yards on the ground and quarterback Jared Goff targeting wide receiver Josh Reynolds, tight end Sam LaPorta and running back Jahmyr Gibbs.

Reynolds caps off the drive with a 22-yard touchdown reception, effectively tying up the game 7-7.

Lions 7, Seahawks 7 (3:49 1st)

Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III tries to dive for a touchdown during the first quarter Sunday against the Lions.

Seattle's offense impresses in first drive of the afternoon

Drive starts: SEA 25 (15:00 1st)

Running back Kenneth Walker III carries the Seahawk's offense. Quarterback Geno Smith and the Seattle offense start to mix in the passing game as the drive progresses, targeting star receiver DK Metcalf twice for 34-yards.

A series of penalties on the Lions (unnecessary roughness on CJ Gardner-Johnson and pass interference on Jerry Jacobs) give the Seahawks multiple free downs at the goal line. Seattle makes Detroit pay, as Walker punches it in at the 1-yard line to take a 7-0 lead.

Pregame

The Lions welcome the Seattle Seahawks to Ford Field on Sunday in what should be a raucous environment. The team and fan base are riding high after last week's 21-20 win over the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in Arrowhead.

It was a gutsy win, featuring bold play calling and key plays across the defense. Rookie Brian Branch's pick-six, defensive end Josh Paschal's punt-forcing tackle for loss late in the fourth and head coach Dan Campbell's early fake punt call were just a few of the shining moments in the stunning victory.

Lions fans wear blue ski masks before Sunday's game against the Seahawks.

The offense, however, had a rather tepid Week 1 showing. Multiple drives ended in three-and-outs and there was a lack of explosive plays. Quarterback Jared Goff was characteristically safe with the ball and guided the game-winning drive in the fourth quarter. Wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr.'s fumble was the lone turnover.

Seattle's first game of the season was a different story. The Seahawks were beaten comfortably at home by the Los Angeles Rams, who were missing wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Quarterback Geno Smith threw for just 112 yards and the defense couldn't stop quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receivers Puka Nacua and Tutu Atwell.
