Ancient pillars, idols and other rare artefacts unearthed during the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya will be showcased in a world-class museum on the premises, said the officials at the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The museum will also highlight the “rich past” of ‘Sanatan Dharma’, the officials added.
Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s general secretary Champat Rai on Wednesday shared some images of the remains of the ancient temple that was unearthed during the ongoing construction of the Ram Temple. Of the many artefacts that first got unearthed while digging the 2.77 acres of land 40 feet deep were the 7 pillars of black touchstone, which was found in 2020.

This was followed by another set of six pillars of red sandstone and the broken idols of gods and goddesses, 5-feet tall Shivalinga and other artefacts, including fragmented pottery, idols, grinding stones that were said to be part of the ancient temple.
Rai too confirmed the findings and said the remains seem to be part of an ancient temple, and the Shivalinga is similar to the one at Kuber Teela.
On a recent visit to Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath not only reviewed the progress of the Ram temple but also directed the UP tourism department to chalk out an action plan regarding the museum and allocated 5 acres for the purpose. Officials said the museum would have around 12 galleries.
One gallery would house the artefacts unearthed during the ASI’s excavation while the other would house the ancient temple remains found during the construction of the Ram temple. Officials said the reason behind constructing the temple is to make people aware of Ram Janmabhoomi.
