Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.46%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of MRF Ltd.(up 1.05 per cent), Bosch Ltd.(up 1.05 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 0.82 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 0.6 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 0.4 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 2.99 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 2.06 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.34 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 1.17 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.84 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.46 per cent down at 15995.95.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 76.8 points at 20070.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 245.86 points at 67466.99.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 ended in the green, while 19 closed in the red.

Shares of JP Power, Vodafone Idea, Indian Railway Fin, Suzlon Energy and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of NIIT Learning System, Silver Touch Tech, ITI Ltd, IOL Chemicals and Jocil Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vaxtex Cotfab, Sungarner Energies, Penta Gold, Sahaj Fashions and Vasa Retail & Overse hit their fresh 52-week lows.
