The month of Shravan concluded on August 31 and devotees flocked to various temples to seek blessing from the deities. One such temple is Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy located in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh to worship Sri Godadevi Mahalakshmi and lord Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy. It is also believed that if unmarried devotees visit the temple and are looking for a suitable partner, the god grants them their wish. During this month, devotees around the district visit the temple in large numbers every week on Friday for seven weeks to offer prayers and receive their blessings.
On the last week of Shravan, Venkateswara Swami and goddess Lakshmi are specially decorated by the devotees. One of the devotees, Satyam Shetty decorated the premises of the temple with tulsi groves which is considered auspicious for lord Swami.
On the last day of Shravan, Archaka Swamulu conducted special pooja rituals to the divine Mangala form of Swami. Bhajan, which is also said to be pleasing to lord Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy, was held in a grand manner. After the afternoon aarti which was also attended by the devotees, they participated in the distributed Annaprasada as part of the deity’s service.
Devotees who come to the temple for the first time often share problems at Varimadi. They believe that god will definitely solve their problems.
The presidents of the Mana Gudi committee of the temple, Anjaneyu and Satthibabu, were praised by the devotees at the temple for the smooth sailing service provided by them.
The temple is located on a mountain known as Ratnagiri. It is reachable by a road and by ascending stone stairs to the temple.
