Section 144 across Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Police has imposed Section 144 across the state prohibiting rallies, processions and meetings. However, as per an IANS report, the TDP cadres took to streets Monday morning to lodge their protest defying the prohibitory orders. In Kuppam town of Chittoor district, the TDP workers staged a road blockade by burning tyres and placing boulders on the highway. Police arrested the protesters and shifted them to the police station.
Tension prevailed at the RTC complex in Srikakulam as TDP workers tried to stop RTC buses from plying. Police took the protesters into custody.
TDP men protesting at Atmakur RTC depot in Nellore district were also arrested by the police. Similar protest was held at the RTC bus stand in Vizianagaram district. In Tirupati, police arrested the TDP leaders, including women who sat on the road, raising slogans against the YSR Congress government.

TDP protests across Andhra Pradesh as shutdown begins
The day-long shutdown called by opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to protest arrest of its supremo and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in an alleged skill development scam began in the state on Monday morning. The TDP leaders and workers came out on streets at different places, condemning the arrest of Naidu. For a third day in a row, police placed several top leaders of the party under house arrest to foil the protest.
Bengaluru Bandh: Roads to avoid and the alternative routes
Anticipating gathering of protesters, the Bengaluru Traffic police have requested commuters to avoid KG Road, Seshadri road, GT road, and the roads around Freedom Park and the Majestic.
In the advisory, the police said that vehicles coming from RR Junction towards Khodays circle, should move towards to Krishna floor mill and proceed towards Malleshwaram.
Vehicles coming from Goodshed road should go towards G T Road via Sangolli Rayanna circle to reach Okalipuram and proceed towards Sujatha Theatre.
Vehicles coming from Ananda Rao circle should move towards Old JDS office road and reach Sheshadripuram Road, added the advisory.
Vehicles coming from Mysuru Bank circle, proceed towards Palace road towards Maharani junction underpass and go towards Basaveshwara circle, the advisory mentioned.

They’ve right to do so: Karnataka Transport Minister on private transport strike in Bengaluru
After private vehicle owners and drivers called for a strike in Bengaluru, Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Sunday said that they have the right to do so. "We have arranged BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses for school-going children, office-going people and for those who're going to hospitals. BMTC has arranged around 500 extra buses. Nothing will happen. They (private transport) are going for a strike, let them, they have the right to do so,” Reddy said.
Bangalore bandh today: Autorickshaw unions want Rs 10,000 monthly assistance
According to Times of India, the Bengaluru autorickshaw unions are demanding a monthly financial assistance of Rs 10,000, establishment of an authority for the development of drivers, ban on illegal bike taxis, and permits for electric autos, among other things. Taxi unions, on the other hand, want a uniform fare system for airport taxis, action initiated against those using whiteboard vehicles (private vehicles) for commercial operations, and a state government-operated mobile app for providing auto and taxi services such as Ola and Uber.
Health ministry to run wellness drives starting on PM Modi’s 73rd birthday
The Centre has decided to run several healthcare programmes during 'Seva Pakhwada', starting September 17, coinciding with the 73rd birth anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, till Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. The programmes will be launched under the 'Ayushman Bhava' campaign of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), which is scheduled to be launched by President Droupadi Murmu on September 13 virtually.
Autumn session of Assam Assembly to begin today, govt to bring over 20 bills
The autumn session of the Assam Legislative Assembly will start from Monday during which more than 20 bills are expected to be introduced by the government. The five-day session will end on Friday. The session will be held in the new building of the Assembly, which was inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in July. The state government will table several new bills, including the Panchayat Act Amendment Bill, during the session. Besides, the government also plans to bring a bill to upgrade some colleges to universities in the state.
Schools closed in Lucknow due to heavy rain
All government and private schools up to class 12 in Lucknow have been closed on Monday due to heavy rain and a severe thunderstorm. District Magistrate Suryapal Gangawar ordered the closure of schools after lightning and heavy rains hit the state capital at around 2.30.a.m. Several areas were reported to be water logged and strong winds led to snapping of electricity and telecom wires. The district administration has initiated relief and rescue measures even as rain continue to lash the state capital.
Karnataka govt makes arrangements to tackle bandh by private bus, taxi, auto unions on Monday
The Karnataka Transport Department has made arrangements in order to tackle the Bandh called by the private bus, taxi and auto unions. Transport Minister Reddy told ANI that he has given instructions for operating buses so that there is no inconvenience to the public. The transport minister instructed the officials to ply government buses on the routes to schools and colleges in Bengaluru. He also directed that more buses should be arranged near hospitals so that patients do not face any problems.
Seven persons killed in accident in Tamil Nadu
At least 7 persons were killed in a freak accident in this district on Monday when a stationery van crushed them after being hit from the rear by a lorry, police said.The victims were seated on the road side when the accident happened, they said. They were waiting as the van they were travelling in developed some snag, police added.
Bengaluru Bandh: Vistara airline issues advisory
Vistara airline has adviced its customers travelling from Bengaluru tomorrow to allow more time for their journey to the airport as the private transport associations have called a bandh. "Due to the 'Bengaluru Bandh' on September 11, 2023, private transport might be disrupted. Customers travelling from Bangalore are advised to allow more time for their journey to the airport," Vistara posted on social media platform X. The strike was declared in protest against the Karnataka government’s Shakti scheme that provides women free travel on non-premium government buses. The private transport operators say that the scheme eats into their profit. The protest is expected to affect the transport service in the city.
Bengaluru Bandh: BLR Airport issues advisory
In a statement, BLR Airport said, "Due to the one day Bengaluru bandh protest on September 11, 2023 all modes of public transport will be impacted. Passengers are advised to plan their travel to and from the airport. Passengers are requested to follow the media releases from transport authorities for updates."
Karnataka Traffic police issues advisory for ‘Bengaluru Bandh’ today
Bengaluru traffic police has issued a traffic advisory for the public to plan accordingly after Karnataka State Private Vehicles Owner Association’s call for ‘Bengaluru Bandh’ on Monday.
“There might be disruption in operation of taxis, maxi cabs, private buses and auto rickshaws. Therefore, all road users are advised to use alternative roads and plan their travel accordingly,” the advisory stated.
As per the advisory, the police have asked the public to avoid KG Road, Sheshadri Road, GT Road and roads around Freedom Park and Majestic Bus stand.

Seven killed after lift crashes in Thane
The lift of a 40-storey building in the Balkum area in Thane collapsed into the underground 3-storey basement on Sunday evening.The police said according to the preliminary investigation the accident occurred due to the breaking of the lift’s rope. The victim workers were coming down in the lift when the accident happened.

Earthquake of magnitude 4.4 hits Bay of Bengal
An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 jolted Bay of Bengal on the early hours of Monday, according to National Center for Seismology (NSC). According to NCS, the earthquake occurred at 1.29 am on Monday and at a depth of 70 km. "Earthquake of Magnitude:4.4, Occurred on 11-09-2023, 01:29:06 IST, Lat: 9.75 & Long: 84.12, Depth: 70 Km ,Location: Bay of Bengal, India," NCS said in a post on social media platform, X. An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 struck Tripura's Dharmanagar on Saturday, as per the NCS data. The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 43 km.
Bengaluru private transporters' strike today, likely to affect commuters
Lakhs of private vehicles including autos, taxis, maxi cabs, goods vehicles and corporate buses could stay off the roads on Monday, making commuting difficult for school students and office-goers, among others, as the Federation of the Karnataka State Private Transport Associations has called for a 'bandh' The federation comprises a total of 32 private transport associations, and most of the private transport services are unlikely to be available starting from midnight today to midnight on Monday. As private maxi cabs are one of the main modes of transport for several school children, some schools in the city have declared a holiday on Monday to avoid inconvenience to students.

Death toll from Morocco earthquake rises to 2,122
At least 2,122 people have been killed and 2,421 injured since a massive earthquake struck central Morocco on Friday night, according to the latest update from the Moroccan Interior Ministry. The deaths include 1,351 people reported in the Al Haouz Province, 492 in Taroudant Province, 201 in Chichaoua, and 17 in Marrakesh, added the ministry in a press release on Sunday.
Chandrababu Naidu taken to Rajamahendravaram central prison
Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu reached the Central Prison here in the early hours of Monday after a court in Vijayawada sent him to judicial custody for 14 days in a multi-crore corruption case. Naidu's son and TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh trailed his father to the prison gates and waited outside for some time before leaving.
