Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held bilateral talks with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in New Delhi. The two global leaders discussed issues including rising Khalistani extremism in Canada, Indian economic state and more.

On the issue of growing Khalistani extremism in Canada, which led to a number of violent encounters in recent times, Trudeau said that he discussed the issue with the Indian PM and assured him that the action of the few does not represent Canada.

Earlier on Sunday, several G20 leaders, including US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial Rajghat in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the leaders at rain-drenched Rajghat.

He welcomed the dignitaries with an ‘angvastram’ or stole having in the background an image of Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat, which was his home from 1917 to 1930 and served as one of the main centres of India’s freedom struggle.
