On the other hand, IDFC First Bank Ltd.(down 0.46 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.62 per cent up at 45156.4.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 92.9 points at 19819.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 333.35 points at 66598.91.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, JP Power, Indian Railway Fin, Reliance Power and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of IndiaPowerCorp, Bombay Burmah, Trans & Rectif, Emmbi Industries and Power Finance Corp. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Penta Gold, Sandur Manganese, Brookfield India Rea, Parin Furniture and Mohini Health & Hygi hit their fresh 52-week lows.
