ReutersShares of IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 2.19 per cent), Bandhan Bank Ltd.(up 1.92 per cent), State Bank of India(up 1.49 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 1.36 per cent) and Punjab National Bank(up 1.36 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, IDFC First Bank Ltd.(down 1.89 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 1.06 per cent up at 44878.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 116.0 points at 19727.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 385.04 points at 66265.56.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 ended in the green, while 17 closed in the red.
Shares of JP Power, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indian Railway Fin and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Cochin Shipyard, Usha Martin, GTL Ltd, Responsive Ind. and Bhagyanagar Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Penta Gold, Bombay Metrics Suppl, Redtape L, Atam Valves and Pyramid Technoplast hit their fresh 52-week lows.
