    ED Raids 40 Locations in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand as Part of PMLA Probe

    ED Raids 40 Locations in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand as Part of PMLA Probe
    The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Wednesday carried out searches at over three dozen locations in connection with a money laundering probe linked to an alleged liquor scandal in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. The raids were conducted on the premises of Vinod Verma, political advisor to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in Raipur.

    In Jharkhand, the raids were carried out at the premises of Rohit Oroan, son of Jharkhand finance minister Rameshwar Oroan. About 34 premises in Ranchi, Dumka, Deoghar and Godda districts were raided by ED sleuths.

    The federal agency has been probing different scandals in Chhattisgarh in connection with an alleged coal scam, liquor scam, irregularities in the District Mineral Foundation fund and an online betting application.

    Earlier this week, the ED had carried out searches at several locations in Raipur and Durg, apparently in connection with online betting activities, said people in the know.
