Hindustan Foods(down 2.81%), Nakoda Group(down 1.91%), Bikaji Foods International(down 1.61%), Adani Wilmar(down 1.52%), Marico(down 1.50%), Emami(down 1.49%), Sheetal Cool Products(down 1.07%), Tasty Bite Eatables(down 0.93%), Dangee Dums(down 0.77%) and Euro India Fresh Foods(down 0.51%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 30.45 points up at 19465.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 137.5 points at 65539.42.
Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 2.51%), UltraTech Cement(up 2.45%), NTPC(up 2.09%), Tata Motors(up 1.88%), Infosys(up 1.79%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.54%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.45%), Larsen & Toubro(up 1.17%), Maruti Suzuki(up 1.05%) and Wipro(up 0.84%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Tata Steel(down 1.86%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 1.4%), Hindalco Industries(down 1.24%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.2%), Bharti Airtel(down 1.16%), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.96%), Bajaj Finserv(down 0.82%), Axis Bank(down 0.73%), IndusInd Bank(down 0.59%) and Bajaj Finance(down 0.52%) closed in the red.
