Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation from the iconic Red Fort today on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day. PM says India has "demography, democracy and diversity" and these factors have the potential to realise the dreams of the country.
"Today, we have demography, democracy and diversity - these three together have the ability to realise the dreams of the nation," PM Modi said.
This is PM Modi's 10th consecutive Independence Day address to the nation from the Red Fort. Cabinet ministers, political leaders, all three service chiefs and bureaucrats are also present for the occasion.
Multi-layer security is in place across Delhi on Tuesday, with more than 10,000 personnel manning the area in and around the historic Red Fort.
Around 1,000 cameras with facial recognition and video analytic systems have been installed in and around the Mughal-era fort and at other strategic locations to ensure security and monitor VVIP movements, they said. Traffic has also been restricted near the Red Fort till the end of the celebrations.

77th Independence Day: PM Modi hoists National Flag at Red Fort
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag today as the nation marks its 77th Independence Day.
Earlier the prime minister took to his social media app 'X' to greet the country.
"Best wishes on Independence Day. We pay homage to our great freedom fighters and reaffirm our commitment to fulfilling their vision. Jai Hind!," the Prime Minister wrote.
Upon his arrival at the Red Fort, PM Modi was received by Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, Raksha Rajya Mantri, Ajay Bhatt, and Defence Secretary, Giridhar Aramane.
The Defence Secretary introduced the General Officer Commanding (GoC), Delhi Area, Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth to the Prime Minister.
The GoC Delhi Area conducted Narendra Modi to the Saluting Base where a combined Inter-Services and Delhi Police Guard presented a general salute to the Prime Minister. Thereafter, the Prime Minister inspected the Guard of Honour.
The Guard of Honour contingent for the PM consists of one officer and 25 personnel each from the Army, Air Force and Delhi Police and one officer and 24 personnel from the Navy, according to an official release.
After hoisting the flag PM Modi began his customary address to the nation from the ramparts of the iconic monument.

US extends wishes to India on its 77th Independence Day
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has extended wishes to the people of India on its 77th Independence Day. He stated that India and US have a "strong bond" as the two nations work together for a world that is open, prosperous, secure, stable and resilient.
"On behalf of the United States of America, we send our warmest wishes to the people of India as they commemorate 76 years of independence this August 15. On this momentous day, we reflect on the depth and breadth of our strategic partnership, and we celebrate the proud history of the Indian people, who are the key to the bright future we are building together," Antony Blinken said in a statement.
Antony Blinken noted that the relationship between India and US has grown "deeper" and it has become "more expansive than ever." He said that the US stands with India in the shared commitment to tackle the most pressing challenges to ensure the peace and prosperity of people.
"This last year has shown that the US-India relationship is deeper and more expansive than ever. "Delhi Police is on alert. Elaborate security arrangements have been made, the exercise for which started around three-four months ago. Anti-terror activities have also been done to check the areas in the districts near the venue," Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa said.
