Rising India-She Shakti Updates: News18 Network’s “Rising India-She Shakti” conclave celebrated the remarkable contributions of women trailblazers from several sectors on Friday. The unique initiative is aimed at honoring the achievements of women who broke the glass ceiling and sharing their stories to inspire the new generation. The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, was the Chief Guest of the evening. Women & Child Development Minister Smriti Irani, actor Shraddha Kapoor, and singers Asha Bhosle among other women achievers are also in attendance.

“It is very important how you are raised. When I was 12, I auditioned for my first shoot. And that was the moment when I realised this is something I am very good at doing and I want to continue doing it… I performed my first stunt then. I was a black belt in Karate. I was also a gymnast and a very good swimmer. I am also an advanced deep sea diver and sky diver. A lot of these skills build up your reflexes and you get good at reacting quickly while performing stunts,” said Bollywood stuntwoman, Sanobar Pardiwala.

In the Amrit Kaal, India will be able to create its place in the group of developed nations with the contribution of Nari Shakti, said President Droupadi Murmu at Network18’s ‘Rising India – She Shakti’ event in New Delhi on Friday.
“It is impossible to imagine a healthy, empowered and developed society without women power… Women power will propel the country to go forward. In a candid fireside chat, the Missile Woman of India, Dr Tessy Thomas, spoke about how things have been changing for women in the STEM fields.
“When I joined the organisation, less than 3 per cent women were joining. Today the trend has changed. 15 to 18 per cent women work as scientists. And that’s really encouraging. And today there’s awareness that science, technology, engineering and mathematics are easy to learn,” she said. “I have a lot of interactions with school children as well as college students and they feel motivated to take up this. If an ordinary person doing engineering like me can come and work in this scientific field, the present generation has a lot of knowledge around.” READ MORE

Bhosle gracefully accepted and sang the song Radha Kaise Na Jale from the film Lagaan.
When the President requested her to sing a song of her choice, Bhosle sang her hit 70s song Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko. The song was from the film Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973).
