Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.37%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Tech Mahindra(up 1.87 per cent), Coforge(up 1.75 per cent), MPhasis(up 0.99 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(up 0.43 per cent) and Wipro(up 0.35 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consultancy(down 0.23 per cent) and Persistent Systems(down 0.15 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.37 per cent up at 30940.05.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 61.7 points at 19632.55, while the BSE Sensex stood up 149.31 points at 65995.81.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 ended in the green, while 16 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Indian Railway Fin, Reliance Power, Zomato and Bank of Maharashtra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Tridhya Tech, Tasty Bite Eatable, Aarey Drugs Ph, Hind Const Co and Birla Cable hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Reliance Home Fin, Vinny Overseas, Richa Info Systems L, Advitiya Trade India and Pentagon Rubber hit their fresh 52-week lows.
