Shree Renuka Sugars(down 3.16%), Ugar Sugar Works(down 2.91%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 2.89%), Balrampur Chini Mills(down 2.31%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 2.31%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 1.80%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 1.72%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 1.62%), EID Parry(down 1.54%) and Bannari Amman Sugars(down 1.51%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 26.45 points down at 19570.85, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 106.98 points at 65846.5.
Hero MotoCorp(up 3.82%), SBI Life(up 3.59%), Cipla(up 3.5%), Tech Mahindra(up 1.84%), Wipro(up 1.26%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 1.15%), State Bank of India(up 0.92%), Bajaj Finance(up 0.72%), LTIMindtree Ltd(up 0.7%) and Axis Bank(up 0.58%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 2.98%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 2.6%), Hindalco Industries(down 2.17%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.78%), Divis Laboratories(down 1.64%), JSW Steel(down 1.45%), Britannia Industries(down 1.17%), Coal India(down 1.16%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 1.05%) and Nestle India(down 1.02%) closed in the red.
