Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.28%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Punjab National Bank(up 2.9 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 2.88 per cent), Bandhan Bank(up 1.65 per cent), Federal Bank(up 1.04 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 0.92 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 0.8 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(down 0.71 per cent), IDFCBANK(down 0.23 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.19 per cent) and HDFC Bank(down 0.08 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.28 per cent up at 44964.45.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 26.45 points at 19570.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 106.98 points at 65846.5.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.

Shares of Indian Railway Fin, Vodafone Idea, Zomato, Reliance Power and Bank of Maharashtra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Banco Products, Hisar Metal Ind, Sabar Flex India, Pritika Auto Ind and PTC Financial hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Synoptics Technologi, Godha Cabcon & Insul, SS Infrastructure, Richa Info Systems L and ASL Industries hit their fresh 52-week lows.
