Mark Margolis, the veteran actor known for his captivating portrayal of the wheelchair-bound cartel patriarch Hector Salamanca in the hit TV shows "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul," has died at the age of 83. His family confirmed the news on Friday, stating that Margolis passed away on Thursday at a New York hospital after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his wife and son during his final moments.
Born in Philadelphia in 1939, Margolis followed his passion for acting to New York City, where he built a successful career as a character actor. Alongside his iconic role in "Breaking Bad" and its acclaimed spin-off "Better Call Saul," Margolis graced the silver screen with supporting roles in acclaimed films like "Scarface," "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," and "Black Swan." Additionally, his talent shone in the HBO series "Oz."
In recognition of his exceptional performance in "Breaking Bad," Mark Margolis received an Emmy nomination in 2012, further solidifying his status as one of the industry's esteemed actors.
