Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.83%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of Bank of Baroda(up 0.76 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 0.23 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, IDFCBANK(down 2.48 per cent), Bandhan Bank(down 1.88 per cent), Axis Bank(down 1.73 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 1.19 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.14 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.83 per cent down at 45679.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 118.4 points at 19659.9, while the BSE Sensex stood down 440.38 points at 66266.82.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 ended in the green, while 33 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, PNB and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Netweb Technologies, Vesuvius India, Raj Oil Mills, Indo Borax Chem and Cipla hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while JohnsonCtrls Hitachi, Ace Integrated Solut, Advitiya Trade India, Service Care and Pentagon Rubber hit their fresh 52-week lows.
