    Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.21%

    The Nifty Auto index closed 1.21 per cent down at 15572.0.

    NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

    Shares of Bharat Forge(up 2.42 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(up 1.26 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 0.44 per cent), Tata Motors(up 0.41 per cent) and TIINDIA(up 0.23 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

    On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra(down 6.31 per cent), Bosch(down 1.34 per cent), TVS Motor Company(down 1.18 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 1.17 per cent) and Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 0.96 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

    The Nifty Auto index closed 1.21 per cent down at 15572.0.

    Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 118.4 points at 19659.9, while the BSE Sensex stood down 440.38 points at 66266.82.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 ended in the green, while 33 closed in the red.

    Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, PNB and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

    Shares of Netweb Technologies, Vesuvius India, Raj Oil Mills, Indo Borax Chem and Cipla hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while JohnsonCtrls Hitachi, Ace Integrated Solut, Advitiya Trade India, Service Care and Pentagon Rubber hit their fresh 52-week lows.
