Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.33%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of IndusInd Bank(up 2.01 per cent), IDFCBANK(up 1.03 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 0.89 per cent), State Bank of India(up 0.41 per cent) and Bandhan Bank(up 0.3 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 3.7 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(down 3.67 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 0.8 per cent), ICICI Bank(down 0.5 per cent) and Federal Bank(down 0.15 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.33 per cent down at 45923.05.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 72.65 points at 19672.35, while the BSE Sensex stood down 299.48 points at 66384.78.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, SJVN and Utkarsh Small Financ were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Kriti Nutrients, Wendt India, Aarti Drugs, Sarveshwar Foods and Thangamayil Jew hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Zee Learn, Proventus Agrocom, Setubandhan Infra, Pentagon Rubber and Drone Destination hit their fresh 52-week lows.
