Dead body found in car on I-96 near Joy Road

Michigan State Police are investigating a dead body found by the Michigan Department of Transportation on Interstate 96 Monday afternoon.

According to a tweet from the Michigan State Police's Second District, a vehicle from the transportation department pulled behind a vehicle when they observed the body in a car on eastbound I-96 near Joy Road.

"No one was struck on scene," MSP tweeted. "This was not a random incident nor a road rage incident."

The Freeway Investigative Support Team continues to investigate the incident.

While a suspect vehicle has been located, "there is no one in custody," state police said.

Other details were not released Monday night.
