Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.57%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Punjab National Bank(up 4.14 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 2.11 per cent), State Bank of India(up 1.54 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 1.04 per cent) and IDFCBANK(up 0.86 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, ICICI Bank(down 0.21 per cent) and AU Small Finance Bank(down 0.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.57 per cent up at 45669.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 83.9 points at 19833.15, while the BSE Sensex stood up 302.3 points at 67097.44.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 ended in the green, while 17 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Bank of Maharashtra, Reliance Power, TV18 Broadcast and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Dishman Carbogen, Vilin Bio Med Ltd., Vertexplus Technolo, Ugro Capital and Jindal Drilling hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Suumaya Lifestyle, Jet Airways, Godha Cabcon & Insul, Lexus Granito(India)and Shree Ram Proteins hit their fresh 52-week lows.
