Robert De Niro’s girlfriend Tiffany Chen has revealed that she suffered “postpartum complications” after welcoming the couple’s daughter.
The 45-year-old, who gave birth to baby girl Gia in April, told “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King that motherhood hasn’t been all that smooth-sailing.
Chen detailed the complications she’s faced since giving birth in her first interview since welcoming their first child, which airs Friday.
While De Niro has remained largely tight-lipped on his daughter’s arrival, he recently revealed that his six older children have yet to meet his baby girl.
“The Godfather Part II” star is also a father to daughter Drena, 51, son Raphael, 46, twin sons Aaron and Julian, 27, son Elliot, 25, and daughter Helen, 11.
De Niro and Chen welcomed Gia on April 6.
The actor let it slip in May that he became a father for the seventh time when he corrected a reporter who called him a father of six, noting that he “just had a baby.”
King then shared the first photo of their infant on “CBS This Morning” in May, and revealed that Gia was born weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces.
“How you could not plan that kind of thing?” he said. “I’m OK with it, I’m good with it.”
The actor added that parenting “never gets easier.”
De Niro met the tai chi instructor on the set of 2015’s “The Intern.”
However, the couple first sparked relationship rumors in August 2021 after they were seen holding hands on a trip to France.

The pair live together in Los Angeles, where the actor “maintains a busy work schedule,” according to People.
Their relationship came three years after his divorce from Grace Hightower.
