Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.3%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Lupin(up 2.88 per cent), Biocon(up 1.95 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(up 1.46 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 0.9 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.61 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Laurus(down 1.14 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 1.05 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 0.6 per cent), Cipla(down 0.54 per cent) and Abbott India(down 0.54 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.3 per cent up at 13936.7.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 55.1 points at 19384.3, while the BSE Sensex stood down 223.94 points at 65393.9.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 32 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, YES Bank, Delta Corp and Easy Trip Planners were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Premier Exp, Zen Tech, Ashoka Metcast, Kothari Petro and Onward Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Pentagon Rubber, Magson Retail & Dist, Cell Point(India), Insecticide Ind and Viaz Tyres hit their fresh 52-week lows.
