Shares of IDFCBANK(up 4.48 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 1.02 per cent), Federal Bank(up 0.82 per cent) and Bank of Baroda(up 0.71 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bandhan Bank(down 2.56 per cent), Axis Bank(down 1.13 per cent), State Bank of India(down 0.68 per cent), HDFC Bank(down 0.49 per cent) and ICICI Bank(down 0.36 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.26 per cent down at 44745.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 83.5 points at 19439.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 273.67 points at 65617.84.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.
Shares of Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Reliance Power, IDFC First Bank and BEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Premier Exp, Cyient DLM, Elecon Engg Co, Bharat Dynamics and Zen Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Simplex Infra, Magson Retail & Dist, Greenchef Appliances, Cell Point(India)and Pentagon Rubber hit their fresh 52-week lows.
