Detectives released brand new video of the commotion that broke out insidewhen shots rang out outside a banquet hall in Pine Hills after midnight on June 24. That shooting left two people dead and two others injured.

Spectrum News spoke to an Orlando pastor who knew one of the victims who was another pastor.

“He spoke at my anniversary,” said Pastor Stovelleo Stovall who lost his daughter to gun violence in 2020.

There were two victims in the Unity Banquet Hall shooting, 28-year-old Willie Alphonso Bell Jr. and 36-year-old Jonathan Frazier.

Stovall considered Jonathan a close friend, and a brother. He said the night before the shooting happened they spoke about scriptures and youth, two things they bonded over.

“Because we’re losing them, were losing them to the cemetery and to the prison system,” said Stovall. “His heart was so big, his heart was big ,he would help anybody.”

Stovall has been a strong proponent of enacting a curfew after midnight. He said he’s heard from the parents, grandparents and families of young people that are raising these kids crying for help.

“If you look at the track record on this: when you had done all you can do, it won’t hurt to try something else.”

On Thursday, he echoed the same message detectives were preaching: if you know something, tell police.

“Give this family some closure,” said Stovall.

He said he’s one of those families that hasn’t gotten closure after his daughter’s murder and hopes it’s a different story for the victims in the recent shooting.

Detectives are urging witnesses to come forward saying it could bring justice to the victims and their families.

An employee at Unity Banquet Hall in Pine Hills said it was closed for about one week after the shooting. The employee tells us they’ve opened back up and plan on staying open.
