Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.14% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded negative around 10:35AM(IST)on Thursday in an upbeat market.

MPhasis(up 0.11 per cent) and Wipro(up 0.04 per cent) were among the top gainers.

HCL Technologies(down 0.9 per cent), L&T Technology(down 0.79 per cent), Persistent Systems(down 0.71 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 0.45 per cent) and Coforge(down 0.45 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.14 per cent at 29800.05 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 47.25 points at 19445.75, while the BSE Sensex was up 147.02 points at 65593.06.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Reliance Power, Bank of Maharashtra and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Magson Retail & Dist, Essen Speciality Fil, Greenchef Appliances, RPP Infra Proj and Nila Spaces L hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rachana Infrastructu, Cell Point(India), Sumeet Ind, Kshitij Polyline and Viji Finance hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
