Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.12%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra(up 4.98 per cent), Tata Motors(up 2.13 per cent), Bosch(up 1.84 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 1.58 per cent) and TIINDIA(up 1.49 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Eicher Motors(down 2.65 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(down 1.33 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(down 0.41 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 1.12 per cent up at 15453.7.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 98.8 points at 19497.3, while the BSE Sensex stood up 339.6 points at 65785.64.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, YES Bank, Bank of Maharashtra and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Magson Retail & Dist, Essen Speciality Fil, Greenchef Appliances, AGC Networks and Ceat hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Rachana Infrastructu, Cell Point(India), Kshitij Polyline, Dangee Dums and Sheetal Cool hit their fresh 52-week lows.
