A middle-aged woman was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in front of a school in Imphal West district on Thursday, as violence continued in Manipur. Officials said the armed miscreants opened fire on the woman when she came to drop her child to the school.

A middle-aged woman was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in front of a school in Imphal West district on Thursday, as violence continued in Manipur. Officials said the armed miscreants opened fire on the woman when she came to drop her child to the school.

Schools reopened for Classes 1-8 on Wednesday, more than two months after violence erupted in Manipur. However, attendance was very thin on the first two days after the reopening.

Meanwhile, Ginza Vualzong of the Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum said a woman with mental health disorder was shot dead by unidentified people in Imphal. The forum refuted allegations that she was a suicide bomber.
