Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.33%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Punjab National Bank(up 2.72 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 2.35 per cent), IDFCBANK(up 2.16 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 1.41 per cent) and ICICI Bank(up 1.41 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, HDFC Bank(down 3.18 per cent), Bandhan Bank(down 2.72 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(down 1.05 per cent) and Axis Bank(down 0.43 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.33 per cent down at 45151.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 9.5 points at 19398.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 33.01 points at 65446.04.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 ended in the green, while 20 closed in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, PNB, Reliance Power and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Genus Pwr Infra, Kore Digital, HPL Electric Power, eMudhra and Ducol Organics & Col hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Penta Gold, Cell Point(India), Vilin Bio Med Ltd., Bombay Metrics Suppl and Bodhi Tree Multimed hit their fresh 52-week lows.
