Now cm Biren Singh's statement has come out about this letter. He said that I am not resigning from my post. Rumors of his resignation have been put to rest with the Chief Minister's announcement.At the same time, before Biren Singh clarified the situation, a large number of protesters stopped the Chief Minister's convoy from moving towards the raj Bhavan. He said to the women protesters that he is not resigning from the post of Chief Minister. Biren Singh later said in a tweet, 'I want to make it clear that I will not resign from the post of the chief minister at such a time of crisis.' Ki Singh is not resigning. The letter going viral on social media said that the chief minister had typed the resignation letter, but his supporters convinced him to tear it up. Some women protesters claimed to have seen the torn letter and posted copies of it on social media.

The Chief Minister's office did not respond to questions on the issue. Earlier in the afternoon, women and hundreds of youths wearing black shirts sat down on a dharna in front of the Chief Minister's residence and demanded that Biren Singh should not resign.


Rumors were rife in Imphal that Biren Singh was considering resigning from the post of chief minister following the violence that broke out in the state again on Thursday. Yesterday, three people died in violent incidents. Women's leader Kshetrimyum Shanti said, 'In this crisis, the Biren Singh government should stand firm and crack down on the rioters.' The person died in hospital, bringing the total number of people who lost their lives in the incident to three on Friday. Armed rioters opened fire in Harothel village without any provocation. The army said that security forces personnel responded in a befitting manner to deal with the situation.

 According to officials, members of the community to which the two rioters who were killed on june 29 belonged tried to take out their bodies in a procession to chief minister Singh's residence here. According to officials, the women-led protestors marching towards the Chief Minister's residence challenged the police to arrest them. He said that the protesters were also seen burning tires in the middle of the road to block the police. When security personnel stopped the protesters from marching to Singh's residence, they turned violent, after which the police had to fire teargas shells and lathi charges to disperse the crowd.
