HUDA City Centre renamed again! Now called ‘Millennium City Centre Gurugram’
1 min read 03 Jul 2023, 05:04 PM ISTNotably, this is the third change as earlier DMRC announced that the HUDA City Centre station will be renamed as ‘Gurugram City Centre’ and then said it would be rechristened as ‘Millennium City Centre’

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) made another change to the name of the HUDA City Centre Metro station on the Yellow Line and now the new name of the metro station is ‘Millennium City Centre Gurugram’. Notably, this is the third change in a day as earlier the metro authority announced that the station will be renamed as ‘Gurugram City Centre', followed by ‘Millennium City Centre'.
“In partial modification of the earlier announcement regarding the renaming of the HUDA City Centre Metro station on Yellow Line, it has now been decided by competent authorities to rename the station as Millennium City Centre," DMRC said in a tweet.
“Accordingly, the process of changing the name in all official documents, signage, announcements, etc has been initiated and shall be changed gradually," the metro authority added without sharing any details on the reasons for reconsidering the earlier name change.
The yellow line of the Delhi Metro connects the HUDA City Centre metro station with the Samaypur Badli station and is mostly underground. The line crosses through some of the most congested parts of the capital.
Why HUDA City Centre metro station name changed?
The people familiar with the development told news agency PTI that the request for changing the name of the HUDA City Centre metro station came from both the central government and the Haryana state government. The name change comes as the metro authority is working on a 28.5-km-long metro corridor between HUDA City Centre and Cyber City in Gurugram which was sanctioned last year.
The new metro corridor will provide an efficient and environment-friendly transport system to the public of Haryana especially those living in Gurugram and its vicinity, Chief Secretary of Haryana Sanjeev Kaushal said. He added that with the new corridor, the residents of Gurugram will have seamless connectivity to Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi.
