PAN-Aadhaar linking deadline: Those who have not linked their PAN with Aadhaar should complete the process today itself. The deadline for linking Aadhaar and PAN is June 30. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) had extended it in order to provide taxpayers more time.
As per the Income Tax rule, it is mandatory to link PAN and Aadhaar. Individuals who have not linked their PAN and Aadhaar till now can do so by paying a large fee of ₹1000 till June 30.
What will happen if you fail to link your with yourAadhaar
1)Your PAN will become inoperative
2)Pending tax refunds and interest on such refunds will not be issued.
3)TDS will be required to be deducted at a higher rate.
4)TCS will be required to be collected at a higher rate .
The income tax department has alerted PAN card holders regarding a few reasons which can cause failure while linking Aadhaar with PAN.
While linking PAN with Aadhaar, demographic mismatch may occur due to mismatch in:
• Name
• Date of Birth
• Gender

Residing in the States of Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, and Meghalaya
A non-resident as per the Income-tax Act, 1961
A person of the age of eighty years or more at any time during the previous year
Not a citizen of India.
Aadhaar-based face authentication transactions for service delivery are gaining robust momentum with monthly transactions in May touching an all-time high of 10.6 million, since its launch in October 2021, said a press statement.
This is the second consecutive month that registered more than 10 million face authentication transactions. The number of face authentication transactions is on an upward trajectory and the monthly numbers clocked in May is an increase of 38 per cent, compared with such transactions reported in January 2023, indicative of its growing usage, added the press statement.
