Monsoon Tracker: Heavy to very heavy rains likely over Gujarat, Konkan and Ghat areas of Maharashtra today. See forecast

IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Konkan, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, with moderate to heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad. Goa and Delhi also expected to receive rainfall. Fishermen warned not to travel along the North Maharashtra coast.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall activity over a few places of Konkan and adjoining Western Ghat areas of central Maharashtra during the next two days.

As per IMD, “Due to active monsoon conditions enhanced rainfall activity with heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at a few places over parts of Konkan and adjoining ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during the next 2-3 days." Due to weather conditions, fishermen too have been asked not to travel around the North Maharashtra coast from June 29 to July 3.

"Warning for coastal areas for North- Maharashtra coast: Squally weather with wind speed 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely along and off North Maharashtra coast from June 29 to July 3.

Moreover, the weather office has also moderate rainfall over Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts. The weather office also said the heavy rainfall intensity is likely to decrease gradually from Friday.

In Gujarat, MET scientist Vijin Lal said on Thursday there would be heavy to very heavy rains in Gujarat on 30 June. From July 1, the pace of rain will slow down. Heavy rain is forecasted in Saurashtra and North Gujarat on Friday. Heavy rain is forecast in Gir Somnath, Amreli, Rajkot and Junagadh.

In Goa, IMD informed that several districts are very likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall from 29 June-3 July.

"In continuation of the previous forecasts with active monsoon conditions persisting over Goa, moderate to heavy rainfall is very likely at most places over North Goa & South Goa districts of the state on June 29, 30 and July 1, 2 and 3, 2023", said an IMD statement.

In Delhi, the weather department has said that cloudy sky with light to moderate rainfall is expected in the national capital in the next four days.

Northwest India:

Heavy rainfall very likely over East Rajasthan during 29thJune -03rd July and Uttarakhand and West Rajasthan on 29th and 30th June.

West India:

-Light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated Heavy to very Heavy rainfall is very likely over Konkan and Goa and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during the week and Gujarat State during next 2 days. 

-Light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall very likely over the rest parts of central India till 5 July.

East & adjoining Northeast India:

-Heavy to Very Heavy falls very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh during 29 June-5 July. 

-Heavy rainfall also likely over Gangetic West Bengal on 30 June and Bihar on 29th, 30th June and 03rd to 05th July.

South India:

-Light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall very likely over Kerala and Mahe, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka during the week from 29 June -5 July. 

-Heavy rainfall also likely over Coastal Karnataka & Kerala during the week; Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 02nd & 03rd July and South Interior Karnataka & Tamil Nadu on 03rd & 04th July. 

-Very heavy rainfall also likely over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala on 03rd & 04th July.

-Light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall very likely over the rest parts of South India.
