Apple: Doesn't Look Like Chess

Jun. 29, 2023 8:00 PM ETApple Inc. (AAPL)AMZN, GOOG, GOOGL, META, MSFT, NVDA, TSLA20 Comments

Summary

  • Apple Inc. continues to hit new all-time highs as analysts expand valuation multiples for the stock.
  • The tech giant has the forecasted slowest growth rates of the hot Magnificent Seven stocks questioning the inclusion in the group.
  • Apple stock has to trade at mid-30x P/E multiples to reach a $3.5 trillion valuation, which isn't warranted for the current growth rates.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) continues to rally on vaporware from bullish analyst calls disconnected from reality. The stock rallied into the VR device release, and now Apple continues to rally despite no actual product launch. My investment

TrendForce estimates that Apple will ship at least 200,000 Vision Pro units in 2024. Other estimates range from 500K-900K units. At this point, it’s way too early to assume that first-year volumes will be as low as the author wants us to believe. What ultimately matters for long-term investors, however, is that Apple is expected to introduce more affordable versions of Vision Pro in 2025 and beyond that will generate millions of units of sales a year.

Stone FUD Capital keeps talking about "growth % rates", while downplaying the magnitude of cash generated. Make sense? Nope. It is profit nihilism. Apple returned to shareholders 600B in absolute dollars from 2012-2022, 92% of FCF. In the next decade Apple will likely generate $1.3-$1.5T in FCF. Apple converted its high growth % rates to FCF. That is a huge win; the ideal case. But SFC thinks that is bad. It's nuts.

AAPL has been over valued for a while. I sold after many years when Covid was just starting in China. Had no idea it would spread here or that O/G names would practically go to zero. All I know is I never have to work again and my monthly Div checks are mid 5 figures. Selling AAPL was the smartest thing I ever did.

AAPL is the best company or let’s say bank to keep your $$ with. What a passionate article with a bear twist. People aren’t going to turn away from Vision Pro just because cost arguments are made. The value and hardware it delivers would definitely drive its adoption so stop brushing everything aside that you don’t like. I’m glad you talk about $3.5T valuation. That means you have no issue with $3T valuation. Nice!

It's all a well orchestrated racket. Which would be ok if the players were left to fend for themselves when the SHTF . Instead of being bailed out by the government and Fed each and every time via various monetary and fiscal programs .

What you’re witnessing is excitement about the Apple Vision Pro. This product is Apple strategic genius. Force the market to adopt *and catch up to* technology that isn’t yet complete. The hardware and software Apple introduced is probably 3-5 years ahead of the competition, maybe more.

I view the Vision Pro as a knockout blow to the primary AR/VR first mover—Meta. They’re already bleeding money to the tune of about $13 billion annually with Meta Reality Labs, and now they’re being forced to catch up on hardware, software, silicon, support (more on that in a second) and supply chain. Not only that, but they have roughly 0% of the high end consumer market.

As far as Developers go, they have to pick a platform. With Developer Labs slated for Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo, combined with an installed base of 2 billion devices, Apple will be their choice.

The AR war is probably over before it ever even started. The recent stock movement is proof that people believe that. When Apple gets the Vision Pro price below $2k, you’ll see an adoption rate of 20%-25% of the iPhone base. That’s 45-50 million Vision Pros sold annually or about $90-$100 billion in incremental revenue, not counting associated Services (movies, sporting events, etc). Vision Pro is a brand new platform and one I’m very excited about.

You want to see insane valuation, look at JOBY which trades at twice the market cap of ERJ!
Or CVNA trading at three times the market cap of SAH! The foremr is expected to lose > $4/share whereas the latter expected to earn > $6/share next year.
Examples abound, take advantage of insanity by following the money.
