Mumbai rains: 2 residents stranded after portion of a building collapsed in Ghatkopar

    Portion of a building collapsed in Rajawadi Colony in Ghatkopar (East) area of Mumbai on Sunday. Some residents are reportedly stranded in the building and a rescue operation is underway. No casualties have been reported so far.

    As per news agency PTI, the incident occurred at 9:33 am at the Chittaranjan Nagar area of Rajawadi Colony.

    NDRF Assistant Commandant Sarang Kurve while speaking to news agency ANI informed that the ground floor of the building has completely collapsed which is why it could take some time to approach the stranded people. He also added that his team has access to victim location cameras which are being used to trace the location of stranded residents.

    Meanwhile, BMC Chief Officer of Disaster Management Department Rashmee Lokhande while speaking to ANI informed that 4 people have been safely rescued from the collapsed building while 2 more people are expected to be inside. She added that the rescue operation is being jointly conducted by NDRF and the fire brigade.
