Monsoon alert: In a major relief from scorching heat, IMD has predicted heavy rainfall warning for Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Vidarbha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana for next three days. Monsoon is set to reach Delhi by Monday and has begun to yield its impact in Mumbai.
Due to heavy rainfall in Rudraprayag District, Kedarnath Yatra has been stopped till further oders at Sonprayag, said Rudraprayag District Magistrate Mayur Dixit on Sunday.
Monsoon updates: After the onset of monsoon, several parts of Uttarakhand witnessed heavy rainfall in last one day. Haridwar received 78 mm rainfall in last 24 hours, followed by Dehradun (33.2) and Uttarkashi (27.7).
IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra on Sunday said that the southeast monsoon has advanced into entire Maharashtra, MP, UP, Delhi and some parts of Punjab, Haryana and Jammu. He added that the monsoon will continue to advance further in next two days.

In a rare event, the monsoon covered both Delhi and Mumbai on Sunday together. The national capital was hit by monsoon two days earlier than schedule. In contrast, Mumbai witnessed a delayed entry of monsoon, as per IMD observation.
"The Southwest Monsoon has advanced over Mumbai and Delhi today (June 25)," an IMD official said.
The monsoon has made swift progres, and has covered numerous regions including parts of Maharashtra, entire Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, northeast India, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, most parts of Himachal Pradesh, and some parts of Haryana, according to an IMD official.
Mumbai rains: CM Eknath Shinde on Sunday said that he has directed officials to ensure that people do not face any problems during rain. He also said that it rained about 70 mm within one hour in Mumbai, but traffic movement hasn't stopped till now due to the construction of water storage tank.
“Today I am here at Milan Subway and yesterday it rained about 70 mm within 1 hour here but traffic movement has not stopped as a water storage tank has been built here. Floodgate has also been installed here. I have directed the department to ensure that people do not face any problems during rain," CM Shinde told ANI.
Mumbai rains: To take a note of the current situatuon of water-logging in Mumbai, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde visited Coastal Road in Worli on Sunday. He also directed the concerned officials to ensure no water-logging situation.
Due to severe flooding in parts of Assam due to torrential rains, Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to CM Himant Biswa on call to take a not of the situation. In a tweet, Amit Shah assured people of all possible assistance. He also said that the NDRF teams are already on the ground conducting relief and rescue operations and adequate forces are on standby.
“Due to heavy rain, the people in parts of Assam are braving a flood-like situation. I have spoken to CM Shri @himantabiswa Ji and assured all possible assistance. As many as 4.89 lakh people living in 19 districts of Assam were affected due to severe flooding and incessant rainfall.
Assam's Nalbari witnessed severe flooding in past two days and the situation continues to remain grim due to rise in water levels.
Following flood situation in Assam due to heavy rainfall, Bagmati river witnessed a rise in water level on Sunday.
Monsoon live updates: IMD in its latest bulletin has predicted favourable conditions for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over most parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, remaining parts of Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh; some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana including Chandigarh & Delhi today.
Rainfall will be observed over most parts of Madhya Pradesh, some parts of Gujarat, East Rajasthan and Punjab during next 48 hours.
In the wake of heavy rainfall in the metro city, Indian Meteorolgical Department has issued Orange alert for next twenty four hours on Saturday.
“As informed by @Indiametdept , in view of continuous and more spells expected, Mumbai is being upgraded to Orange Alert for next 24 hours. Citizens are requested to take necessary precautions," tweeted BMC on Saturday
