In return for similarly valued property outside the city, he requested the Centre to hasten the handover of about 160 acres of defence land to the State government in order to promote the building of public facilities.

Rama Rao, who is on a two-day visit to delhi to discuss many Telangana-related projects with federal ministers, met with rajnath singh, the minister of defence, and provided comments on the proposed elevated corridors, skywalks, and road extension that would need defence lands.

The minister stressed the necessity for 94.2 acres of defence land for the 18.4 km skyway project from Jubilee bus Stand to Rajiv Rahadari (State Highway-1) and another 56 acres for the 18.35 km skyway from Patny to Kandlakoya in order to ease traffic congestion and streamline vehicle flow.

In addition, he requested another half acre for the construction of a skywalk at Mehidipatnam Rythu Bazaar, as well as around 6.3 acres of defence property in golconda (1.16 acres) and Ibrahimbagh (5.14 acres) for the development of link roads.

Additionally, it was requested of the union defence minister to transfer small amounts of defence land for the construction of link roads and road widening in places like Kanchanbagh, the intersection of Road No. 1 and 12 in Banjara Hills, from Zohra Bee Dargah to Rakshapuram, from Mohammadi Lane to Andhra Flour Mill Road, and from Andhra Flour Mill to tippu Khan Bridge.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Rama Rao emphasised Hyderabad's explosive development as the source of around 44% of the nation's new IT employment. In addition to being a centre for vaccine manufacturing worldwide, the city is also making great strides in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and aerospace industries.

"Given Hyderabad's rising profile, we have been requesting cooperation from the federal government to upgrade the city's infrastructure. But they haven't yet replied," he pointed out.

Rama Rao expressed displeasure that the central government had not offered aid to hyderabad during the 2020 floods. He claimed to have made numerous requests to the five nda government defence ministers, including a meeting with rajnath singh to outline the needs of the State.

"We have also sought to expedite the excision of the civil areas of secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) and its merger with Greater hyderabad Municipal Corporation, to develop public amenities including community halls," he continued. He hoped that the Defence minister would give the State government's demands some consideration.

The minister also said that requests for financial support for the development of the hyderabad Metro rail project were made to the central government in october of last year and will be discussed with Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union's minister of Urban Development, on Saturday.

For the extension of the metro lines between BHEL and Lakdikapool (via Serilingampally and Miyapur) for a length of 31 km and Nagole-LB nagar for a length of 5 km under phase-II expansion, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) was created and submitted to the Centre.

Along with finishing the unfinished MMTS works, he would also look for financial support for the proposed metro route between patancheru and Hayatnagar. He stated, "We have already paid the State's portion for the MMTS project, but the union administration has not responded.

In order to complete the link road project at Rasoolpura intersection, Rama Rao is also scheduled to meet with Union home minister amit shah and ask for his help in transferring roughly 4-5 acres of home Ministry land to the State government. He said that the problem was not addressed by union Tourism minister G Kishan Reddy.

Additionally, Rama Rao slammed the central government for supporting 10 metro rail projects in Uttar Pradesh but ignoring hyderabad in Telangana. He emphasised the discrepancy in responses, pointing out that whereas gujarat received assistance during the floods, hyderabad did not.

He insisted that kishan reddy "must explain to the people of telangana as to why the Centre did not cooperate when there were floods in hyderabad when it could provide relief to gujarat and other bjp states."

The minister said there were no other problems with the transfer of defence lands in Lucknow, Bengaluru, and ahmedabad for comparable purposes, when asked whether the Centre was delaying a decision on the alienation of defence properties owing to political considerations.
