2 min read 24 Jun 2023, 11:10 AM ISTHeavy rainfall across parts of India, including the national capital and South India, has caused water-logging and flood conditions. The Mumbai IMD has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in parts of Maharashtra for the next 4-5 days.

The Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) New Delhi has predicted thunderstorms with moderate intensity rain in parts of Uttar Pradesh.
In a tweet, the RWFC informed “24/06/2023: 10:00 IST; Light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Deoband, Nazibabad, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnaur, Khatauli, Sakoti Tanda, Hastinapur, Chandpur, Daurala, Meerut, Modinagar, Kithor, Amroha, Moradabad, Garhmukteshwar, Pilakhua, Hapur, Gulaoti, Siyana, Sambhal (U.P.) during next 2 hours."
Parts of India have been witnessing heavy rainfall over the past few days. The national capital too on Saturday recorded a minimum temperature of 30.4 degree Celsius, two notches above the season's average, and is expected to see little rain later in the day, the weather department said.
With the onset of the monsoon in Tamil Nadu, the capital, Chennai, received heavy rain along with thunderstorms, on Thursday. In addition to this, several parts of Tamil Nadu, including Tirupathur district, Vanniyambadi, Jolaret, Ambur, and Alangayam, received moderate rainfall on Tuesday, causing water-logging in various areas.
Various parts of South India have been getting continuous rainfall with the arrival of the monsoon. Isolated areas in Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu experienced rainfall on Tuesday. The Southwest Monsoon has also reached several parts of the country.
In Mumbai, IMD has also issued a yellow alert for the city, predicting heavy rainfall in parts of Maharashtra in the next 4-5 days. "Rainfall intensity to gradually increase over parts of Maharashtra during next 4-5 days. Indication of expected severe weather in the next 5 days," said, Regional Meteorological Center, Mumbai, in a tweet.
In Madhya Pradesh, the met office has said that the monsoon is likely to arrive in the state in the next two days.
"Pre-monsoon activity is going on throughout Madhya Pradesh, as a result of which light, moderate and heavy rains are seen at some places in the state. According to the data recorded so far, 47.6 mm rainfall has been recorded in Bhopal. Similarly, 116 mm in Sehore, 140.9 mm in Raisen and heavy rain has been recorded in Seoni district," Ashfaq Hussain, Meteorologist, IMD Bhopal said.
Meanwhile, incessant rain has affected thousands of people in Assam's Bajali, Nalbari, and Barpeta districts who have taken shelter in relief camps after the flood waters of several tributaries of the Brahmaputra River submerged their homes.
