The Pune city police Friday arrested a defence job aspirant from Uttar Pradesh who had assigned a dummy candidate to write an examination conducted by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on his behalf at BRO School and Centre in Dhanori, officials said.
The police have identified the accused as Pushpendra Kumar Kisanlal, 22, a resident of Hathras district.
This is the fourth such case detected since March, and all the cases are lodged at the Vishrantwadi police station. With the latest case, the total number of arrests has reached seven.
According to the police, the BRO officials detected the impropriety when Kisanlal came to the Pune centre Friday morning for the verification of documents. They found that his face was not matching with the photographs of his admit card used to appear for the examinations conducted earlier, the sleuths said.
The BRO, on verification, found that a person with the name ‘Pushpendra Kumar Kisanlal’ had indeed appeared for the written and physical examinations a few days ago held for a ‘Group C’ position. Police sub-inspector Nitin Rathod, the investigating officer, said, the BRO thus concluded that a dummy candidate had appeared in Kisanlal’s place for the examinations.
Based on a complaint by the BRO, Kisanlal has been booked for cheating. The police have also booked the unidentified dummy candidate who took the tests on behalf of Kisanlal.
Earlier this month, police had arrested another Uttar Pradesh native, Anirjay Yadav, 21, who assigned a dummy candidate to write an examination at the BRO School and Centre. Last month, the police arrested two people from UP and one from Haryana in connection with impersonation during a written exam conducted for the post of ‘multi-skilled worker and driller’ at BRO School and Centre. In March, the police arrested two people, one of whom was a dummy candidate taking a written exam for the post of a ‘cook’ at the GREF Centre Border Roads Organisation of the Ministry of Defence.
