Kangana Ranaut has revealed the release date of her highly anticipated film 'Emergency'. Set to portray the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Kangana will star in the lead role, and the movie is scheduled to hit theatres on November 24, 2023.

'Emergency' is a film that delves into the remarkable political journey of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Portraying the events that unfolded in 1975 and altered the course of India's history, the movie showcases her resilience in the face of challenges. 

Indira Gandhi, the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, served as the country's third Prime Minister and remains the only female to have held this esteemed position.

Alongside the announcement, Kangana shared a teaser of the movie 'Emergency'  on Twitter and captioned it “A protector or a Dictator? Witness the darkest phase of our history when the leader of our nation declared a war on it's people.#Emergency releasing worldwide on 24th November". 

The video announcement marks forty-eight years since the Prime Minister had a state of emergency declared across the country.

Fans expressed their excitement over the release of the teaser as one of the users remarked, "I want to see this movie.. been waiting for so long now.. treat this tweet as an #Emergency too ❤️@KanganaTeam"

Directed by Kangana herself, 'Emergency' sheds light on a crucial chapter in India's history, and the actress expressed her gratitude to the talented cast involved in the project. The film also features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Vishak Nair, and Shreyas Talpade in significant roles.

“Emergency is one of the most significant and darkest chapters in our history that young India needs to know. It is a crucial story and I want to thank my super-talented actors like late Satish ji, Anupam ji, Shreyas, Mahima, and Milind for embarking on this creative journey together. I am excited to bring this extraordinary episode from India's history to the big screen. Jaihind!", said Kangana on directing and starring in the movie ‘Emergency.’

Vijayendra Prasad, the Baahubali writer, became emotional after watching ‘Emergency’ shared Kangana recently. She posted on Instagram, "After complete edit is done, the first person to watch Emergency. Not only Vijendra sir wiped his eyes several times while watching the edit but after watching it he said, 'I am so proud of you my child'..well my life is made." 

Prior to her role in 'Emergency,' Kangana Ranaut portrayed the iconic former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa, in the biographical film 'Thalaivii' released in 2021.

'Emergency' marks Kangana Ranaut's debut as a solo director.
