LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath convened a high-level meeting in Lucknow on Friday to review the projects undertaken by his government to make UP a $1 trillion economy in five years.
The CM also held discussions with officials on making the state a hub of green energy.
"Now, it is the time of Uttar Pradesh. Taking full advantage of its potential, it will become the most important base for multidimensional development of the country," Yogi said, underlining the need of fixing sector-wise short-term and long-term strategies. The government has set a time-frame of five years (by 2027) for the state to achieve $1 trillion economy goal.
The CM directed officials of departments related to the state's income-expenditure to focus on core sectors like agriculture, religious tourism, manufacturing and IT & ITES. In addition, he asked them to pay special focus on sectors like energy, health, urban development, education, food processing, and MSME. UP has 96 lakh MSME units.
Yogi pressed on the need of using more technology to bring transparency in the system and warned that "any type of pendencye will not be tolerated". While reviewing the construction sector, the CM said that 54 lakh houses have been built for poor in the state. He said that registration of all types of construction works must be done on the lines of birth and death registration.
The CM also directed officials to restart the work of assessing district wise GDP which was stopped during the pandemic. Yogi underscored the need of publishing the GDP along with the data of income-expenditure from various resources of the entire district. This data may also be sent to various universities for study, he said. Yogi said that each department should make full use of its resources to generate income. "Efforts should be made to further improve the ranking of Ease of Doing Business by giving a transparent system to the traders," he noted.
