JAIPUR: Conditions are favourable for the southwest monsoon in the state by June 27 onwards and rainfall activity to increase in the eastern Rajasthan in coming days. This was revealed by the meteorological office Jaipur while forecasting on the onset of monsoon on Friday.
Radhey Shyam Sharma, director of Met office, said that the conducive conditions are prevailing in the state for the timely onset of the monsoon. "It appears that the rainfall activity will enhance from Saturday onwards in Dausa, Alwar, Bharatpur and Kota, Jhalawar and Baran districts as southwest monsoon advanced in some parts of neighbouring Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh," Sharma told TOI.
He added that by June 27 the state is likely to see the onset of the monsoon and by July 4 widespread rainfall activity would be witnessed.
"In 2019, the monsoon arrived on June 19, in 2020 it arrived on June 21, in 2021 it arrived on June 20 and this year it is little delayed and likely to arrive by June 27," he added.
On the other hand, showers continued at many parts in Kota, Jhalawar, Baran and Bundi in the southern Rajasthan and in Dausa, Alwar and outskirts of Jaipur.
In Jaipur, it was hot and humid throughout the day except some scattered rainfall in the evening.
Met office further stated that average humidity levels in the state are on and above 80%. "Humidity plays the role of catalyst in holding the monsoon winds and brought rainfall. This much of humidity level if continues can bring good amount of monsoon rainfall from June 27 onwards," said an officer of Met office, Jaipur. In its forecast Jaipur Met office said that mild to moderate showers will continue at some parts in the southern and some parts in the eastern Rajasthan in the next 24 hours. Humidity levels are likely to be on or above 80% on Saturday.
