Three held in arson case
Coimbatore: The city police arrested three men on Thursday night for setting fire to an office of a real estate firm on Sungam Bypass Road on June 17.
The arrested men were identified as B Ravichandran alias Ayothi Ravi, 45, and Sabarigirivasan, 35, both from Masal Street at Puliyakulam, and Ramesh, 37, from Maniyakaranpalayam in the district.
Police said the office, belonging Sikkandar, of Ukkadam, at Shanmuga Nagar was set on fire around 7.30pm on June 17 by three unidentified men. The building owner, Anne Carrol, 65, who is residing on the fourth floor of the building, lodged a complaint with the Ramanathapuram police.
Police arrested Usman from Ukkadam in connection with the case three days ago. The preliminary inquiry revealed that Usman was running a beef stall at Pollachi and he had a money dispute with Sikkandar. “He was allegedly assaulted by family members of Sikkandar. So he decided to take revenge on Sikkandar with help of Ravi, Sabarigirivasan, Ramesh and Vasanthakumar by setting fire to Sikkandar’s office. Usman, Sabarigirivasan and Ramesh had executed the plan,” said a police officer.
Vasanthakumar is on the run. tnn
