Kanpur: A private medical college teacher in Farrukhabad was duped of Rs 23.25 lakh in the name of getting her daughter admitted via special quota in NEET.
The teacher has filed a case against two named and one unnamed person.
Suresh Singh, a resident of Peergarh under Rajabpur police station in Amroha district, is a teacher at Major SD Singh Medical College, Baghar under Maudarwaja police station in Farrukhabad district. His daughter is preparing for NEET by staying here.
On February 1, a woman named Soumya called on Suresh’s mobile and convinced him about getting his daughter admitted to a medical college through a special quota. On May 9, a man named Vineet who introduced himself to be a colleague of Soumya, called him and asked him to arrange a sum of Rs 23.25 lakh.
As per his instructions, he transferred the money in separate instalments to two accounts.
When the NEET result was declared on June 13, the name of the complainant’s daughter was not there. When he tried to contact them, all their phones were found to be switched off. Then he realized that he had been duped.
On June 22, he lodged a complaint at Mau Darwaza police station in Farrukhabad. “We have registered a complaint and initiated an investigation. Soon, the culprit will be in the police net,” said Mau Darawza police station in-charge.
