Tamil Nadu: Thief prays before taking Rs 1 lakh from Kancheepuram store

CHENNAI: A thief broke into a hardware store in Kancheepuram in the early hours of Friday and escaped with 1.08 lakh of cash. The police have registered a case and are on to nab the suspect.
The police said Rajkumar, 32, runs a hardware store in Sunguvarchatram Bazaar on the Walajabad Road. When he opened the store on Friday morning, the cash on the counter was missing. He checked the CCTV footage and informed the police.
"We found a man in a white shirt breaking the shop's back door. He entered around 12.30am. He opened the cash drawer, found pictures of a deity, tapped on the head twice, and posed as if praying. He then took the money and left," said the police.
