Jaipur: Additional SP (crime) Govardhan Lal Sokariya was on Friday named the investigating officer of the case of a brawl at a restaurant in Ajmer in which an IAS officer and an IPS officer were placed under suspension for their alleged involvement.
DGP Umesh Mishra had asked ADGP (crime) Dinesh MN to monitor and supervise the investigation of the case and name an investigating officer. Even ten days after registering an FIR in the case, Ajmer police are yet to issue notice to suspended IAS officer Girdhar and suspended IPS officer Sushil Kumar for interrogation. The DGP had on Thursday shifted investigation of the case to Crime Branch.
ADGP (crime) Dinesh MN told TOI on Friday that he has asked Sokariya, who also holds charge of SP (crime) at Crime Branch, Jaipur, to probe case. “We have received file, and he will go through the papers and begin the probe,” said Dinesh.
Ajmer police, after filing FIR, had named Manish Badgujar, additional SP (Rural), as the investigating officer. “Lethargic investigation by Ajmer police led the police headquarters to shift the case to Crime Branch and name a new investigating officer,” said a senior police officer. Meanwhile, vigilance wing of
Rajasthan police headquarters issued notices to Girdhar and Sushil Kumar, asking them to appear before it in five days, said ADGP (vigilance) Biju George Joseph to TOI. tnn
