Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said there will be ‘Janata Darbar’ on the first Monday of every month at Mapusa in North Goa district and at Margao in the South Goa district. One cabinet minister will preside over the darbar each time and address public grievances.
At the first such meeting on July 3, PWD minister Nilesh Cabral will attend the same at the office of the additional collector-III at Mapusa, while revenue minister Atanasio Monserrate will attend the darbar at the Matanhy Saldanha administrative complex in Margao.
All heads of department/representatives of the departments which are approached often by the public will be present at the ‘Janata Darbar’ to facilitate the minister to deal with the grievances.
Last year, the government had run the ‘Sarkar Tumchya Dari’ or government at your doorstep initiative, where officials from different departments set up kiosks in each taluka on a given day to address queries on various government schemes. Following this, ‘Mantri Tumchya Dari’ was also held, where different ministers visited a particular taluka to listen to citizens’ grievances on a particular day.
