Chamundi Hills jam-packed on 1st Ashadha Friday
Mysuru: A sea of devotees thronged Chamundi Hills on Friday to have ‘darshan’ of Goddess Chamundeshwari at Sri Chamundeshwari Temple to mark the first Ashadha Friday celebrations. The devotees began to arrive at 3.30am to have a ‘darshan’ of the goddess after standing in a long queues.
Devotees were allowed to have ‘darshan’ after performing pujas and rituals like Rudrabhisheka, Panchamrutha Abhisheka, Kunkumarchane, Ekadashapuspharchane and Sahasranamarchane, which were conducted by temple chief priest.
The floral decorations both inside and outside the temple made by using varieties of flowers, sugarcane stems were the main attractions and added a colourful look to the temple.
People from all walks of life, including celebrities, politicians, officials, women and children, took part in the celebrations with religious fervour. A large number of women, including Stree Shakti members, arrived in groups to have ‘darshan’ utilising the Shakti free bus ride scheme. tnn
