Balangir bandh over violence against women

Balangir: The Western Odisha Women Organisation called a 12-hour bandh here on Thursday protesting the atrocities against women and delayed justice. Government and private offices, educational institutions, business establishments remained shut from 6 am to 6 pm. Public and private transport remained off the roads.
Apart from members of Town Congress Committee, many organisations took part and picketed in front of the collectorate. Sabita Nanda, a protestor said, “Contrary to the state government’s slogan to dignify women, many female victims of atrocities are still waiting for justice. We demanded early justice to all victims and stringent action against the people committing violence against women.”
