Panaji: Congress on Thursday urged Goan youth to join its nationwide youth convention — Behatar Bharat Buniyad — being held in Bengaluru on July 10.
The party’s youth wing president for Goa, Joel Andrade said that youth need to bring about a change by eradicating politics of hate and division in the country.
“There is unemployment in the country and also in Goa. BJP governments have failed to provide jobs. I appeal to the youth to be part of the convention and help the country to erase hate politics,” Andrade said. “Our country is facing a challenging time be it economic, social or political. Now youth want change.”
State party general secretary Ahraz Mulla said the country needs a strong foundation to bring peace and hence during this convention deliberation will be done on several issues.
“Prior to this meet, we will have local discussion in Goa and then we will attend the convention to understand the issue and resolve it,” Mulla said.
Meanwhile, Congress protested against the frequent power cuts in Mandrem that have affected the studies of students and small-time entrepreneurs.
The party’s functionaries in Mandrem have threatened to start a stir and block the roads if the electricity department fails to provide uninterrupted supply. Local Congress block president, Narayan Redkar, along with villagers met the electricity department officers and asked them to provide uninterrupted electricity supply.
